LEONARD SHLAIN is a surgeon and professor of surgery in San Francisco who has written three national best sellers. They cover such diverse subjects as the relationship between art and physics, the impact of alphabet literacy on gender relations and religion throughout history, and the evolutionary history of male-female relationships. He is currently working on a fourth entitled Leonardo’s Brain: The Roots of Creativity.
